Lip Implants

Detailed information on who needs

lip implants to get achieve fuller lips.

Lip Implants

Lip Implants are very much like breast augmentation, but using implants made only for lips. Although made by several companies, they are very similar in style. Basically, the lip implant is a soft type foam material. The Surgeon makes a small incision in the inside of your mouth to make a space that the implant will be inserted into. This is reversible, if you don't like the results you can have them removed. One thing Permanent injectable lip fillers do not have to the same degree. Implants should only be tried after successful experiences with altering the shape of your lips with an injection first.

The most common brands in use by plastic surgeons today.

  • Advanta
  • Fascia grafts
  • AlloDerm
  • Dermis grafts
  • Tendon Grafts
  • UltraSoft
  • Gore-Tex
  • SoftForm
  • Tendon (harvested) Grafts

*Note this list of lip and implant material is not all inclusive. There several others and some are marketed under different brand names.

* Artecoll's core chemical component is made with PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate). The PMMA is encapsulated by other chemicals that your body will break down and remove over time. The PMMA is encapsulated, much like breast implants are. PMMA is a controversial injection substance, to read more see our buttock injection page. This covers this subject in more depth.

Lip enhancement Implants

The question any woman who has been satisfied with her temporary lip augmentation comes to ask herself, "What should I chose and why?"

Below you will find pros and cons list about getting lip implants surgery.

Positives related to implants for lips.

  • Permanent enhancement to the lips and can create an immediate and dramatic result.
  • Implants are easily reversible. There are many types of lip implants and depending on what your circumstances are your surgeon will determine which he prefers. The implant is basically made from a soft gel type foam. The are all easily removed and the procedure reversed.
  • What you see is very much, what you get. You get to see the exact volume change you are going to have.

Negatives related to Implants for lips.

  • Very difficult to modify should you not like the shape and size. Basically, you would have to have another surgery to have them removed and then new ones put in at even more cost than the first surgery.
  • Implants can be felt by both, you and other people. This one bothered me, who want to feel like they are kissing an implant.
  • Implants can affect how you speak as you will not have the same mobility in your lips as before.
  • Although you can get an idea of the volume change, you cannot get an accurate idea of the shape change like with an injectable.

Key tips for getting your desired results.

If you are starting with mid to small size lips do not take in a picture of Pamela Anderson and say, put those on my face. You should expect to have much fuller, and better shaped, sexier lips than what you have now. However, like breast implants, going from a small a size to a D size is rarely a good idea. Lip implants are an amazing option, but one that need careful, planning and testing to get the best results.

Do lip implants feel natural?

Los Angeles

I have seen some beautiful lips after implants but how do they feel, do they feel natural?

Star . Los Angeles, CA

Lip Surgery and feeling the implant.

Los Angeles

A big downside to any type of implant in the lip other than injectables is that you will probably feel them, and so will others. Your lips will always be more firm, and you may even feel the outline of the implant depending on how much fatty tissue your lips have to begin with.

With any implant procedure, there is always a risk of migration of the implant. Talk with your surgeon about ways to reduce this risk and then be sure to follow their advice.

Return to work after surgery

Dallas, or Houston

How long until I can go back to work after the lip surgery?

Samantha Dallas or Houston. Tx.

SSI_Answer

Return to work after getting lip implants.

Dallas or Houston

Depending on what you choose, you can go back to work in just a few days. You will be swollen and bruised for a few weeks but as long as your job does not require heavy lifting or a lot of talking you should be fine. If your position is answering phones it may be a few weeks until you can return.
